South Dakota Physician Dispensing Laws & Regulations

Note: PharmaLink has compiled the information below for reference only. State dispensing regulations change frequently and we recommend consulting an attorney or your state medical or pharmacy board with specific questions or to verify your eligibility to dispense.
Physicians in South Dakota may dispense medications to patients under their care but must first complete a controlled substances registration form and pay a small fee (currently $150). Nurse practioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) may also dispense as long as it is expressly allowed by their supervising physician. You may find more information on registration and licensing requirements here. As always, all state and federal regulations must be followed when dispensing, including drug storage and labeling requirements.
